Holding a broad knowledge base in the field of health, it was in 2018 that Dr. Ron Terry Bustillo, podiatrist, obtained his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine.
A martial arts and fitness enthusiast, Dr. Bustillo channels his experience as a physiotherapist to enhance his interventions in podiatry.
Today, his talents and expertise allow him to wonderfully complement the team at the Southwest Podiatric Clinic.
An Impressive Educational Journey
It is Dr. Bustillo’s keen interest in health sciences and the functioning of the human body that directed his academic path towards podiatry.
Initially trained in physiology at McGill University, he continued by engaging in exercise science studies. Later, he completed a master’s degree in cardiovascular physiology.
Not satisfied with this impressive series of degrees, Dr. Bustillo began the Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at UQTR in 2014. During the following four years, internships in hospital settings allowed him to refine his practice, especially regarding diabetic foot.
Today, Dr. Bustillo, podiatrist, holds a radiology license and a certificate in foot ultrasound that grant him the right to:
- Perform ultrasound-guided injections;
- Carry out ultrasound-guided interventions for a colleague’s patients;
- Identify the source of foot pain;
- Make a diagnosis of a pathology or rule out others.
An Attentive and Informed Podiatrist
Dr. Bustillo’s unique vision regarding biomechanics and sports podiatry has been built through his multiple professional involvements.
For a long time, the former kinesiologist was at the helm of a conditioning center, even holding the position of head coach within the Quebec Taekwondo Federation.
