Plantar orthotics: types, benefits, and adaptation tips - PiedRéseau Aylmer

At PiedRéseau Aylmer, we offer specialized plantar orthotics designed to enhance foot function and address various biomechanical issues. Our custom-made orthotics are tailored to fit the unique shape of your feet, providing optimal support and comfort. This service aims to alleviate pain and redistribute pressure, making it suitable for various conditions affecting foot health.

We provide two primary types of plantar orthotics: custom and over-the-counter options. Custom plantar orthotics are created following a comprehensive evaluation by our podiatrists, ensuring they meet your specific needs. In contrast, over-the-counter orthotics may not offer the same level of support, as they are not tailored to individual foot shapes or conditions.

Our podiatrists will guide you through the adaptation process, which typically takes 1 to 2 weeks. During this time, it is normal to experience some discomfort as your body adjusts to the orthotics. We recommend a gradual increase in wear time to help ease this transition. Regular follow-up appointments will ensure your orthotics continue to meet your needs effectively.

The PiedRéseau Aylmer team includes Dr. Antoun Hajj, the clinic owner and podiatrist, who holds a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Élie Bélanger, also a podiatrist, joined the clinic in 2015. Together, they offer comprehensive foot care, including custom plantar orthotics, to address a wide range of patient needs.
